Material Handling Equipment: Increase Efficiency And Reduce Fatalities

A majority of all industrial occupations involve overexertion that invariably leads to accidents and hazards. Handling and storing materials in different industries involve diverse operations such as hoisting tons of steel with a crane; driving a truck loaded with concrete blocks; carrying bags or materials manually; and stacking palletized bricks or other materials such as drums, barrels, kegs, and lumber. A survey reveals that an estimated 30 percent of the workforce is exposed to the hazard of lifting everyday. Materials handling equipment are an essential solution for reducing the risk of physical injuries for employees at work place.

Manual material handling implies unaided moving of objects, which often leads to twisted and awkward postures resulting in musculoskeletal disorders. Moreover, with the increase in the female population at workplaces and a generally older workforce, risk of injuries due to manual material handling has certainly increased. Having the right material handling equipment has become essential for a smooth and efficient workflow and high productivity.

Material Handling Equipment can be custom built in any shape or form to suit any application. Material handling equipment is used to transport, stack, recover and feed bulk materials. The concept of material handling equipment is to provide bulk material handling solutions to industries worldwide. Rollers, belts and chains are among the items that can be incorporated into a custom-built piece of material handling equipment. A variety of hydraulic and electric drives are also available. Every piece of equipment is ruggedly constructed for many years of operation.

The perfect choice of material handling equipment and good design of the material handling system and facility layout can increase productivity and reduce investments and operations' costs. When deciding what material handling equipment to use, it is important to take into account the general characteristics of the equipment types available in the market.

Among the major materials handling equipment are Conveyors, Stackers, Reclaimers and Hoppers. Conveyors often referred to as conveyer belts are made of two end pulleys with a continuous loop of rotating material feeding through them. Conveyors are used to transport materials such as coal, ores and grains. Stackers are another form of material handling equipment used to stack bulk material onto a stockpile. Reclaimers work closely with stackers. Reclaimers are used to recover bulk material that has been placed in a stockpile. Hoppers are also a type of material handling equipment. Hoppers help to feed bulk materials into other machines.

Material handling equipment is undoubtedly the best solution to improve productivity while reducing the potential of workplace injury. Versatility, reliability, state-of-the-art technology and superior execution are making modern material handling equipment an utmost necessity for a variety of industries. Reduce the total amount of required manual material handling and minimize the hazards associated with these activities by creating a unified material handling system making the right material handling equipment selection. Reduce costs and improve efficiency in industrial material handling by providing the perfect selection of material handling equipment.

Different Types Of Commercial Dump Trailers

When it comes to commercial dump trailers, there are all kinds of different types that are available. If you are interested in the different types of commercial dump trailers, you will see that there are a lot of choices out there that you will be able to choose from. This way, you will be able to get a commercial dump trailer for anything that you need it for.

Types of Dump Trailers

End Dump
An end dump trailer is one that is a trailer that has a hydraulic hoist. With the hydraulic hoist, there is a trailer on the end that has a bed that can hold whatever it is you need to put in it. When it needs to be dumped, the end dump hydraulic hoist comes up and the back end opens. That is where whatever is in the trailer is going to empty out into the space where it is needed. With an end dump trailer, they are great for dirt and large loads of material that need to be quickly and easily unloaded.

Belly Dump
A belly dump trailer is one that is generally found with a semi trailer. This trailer is generally on three axels. When the load in these trailers needs to be removed, the bottom of the trailer opens at a certain angle and releases whatever is in the trailer that needs to be removed. The angle that the belly dump is dumped at is important so that the truck can drive off without having any issues or ruining what has been dumped.

Side Dump
A side dump commercial trailer is a trailer that works a couple of different ways. Generally, the side dump trailer is located on a semi bed. It can either slide off the end a bit then dumps on its side or it just tips onto the side to dump whatever load it is carrying. This is a great way to get the product out of the trailer and to the site where it needs to go.

Framed Dump
A framed dump trailer is one that is framed in. This is generally a trailer that is free standing, with the frame, which is generally made of steel; it has maximum stability because of this. With all the reinforcement built into it, there will be no twisting when you are dumping or turning.

3/4 Frame Dump
The 3/4 dump frame commercial trailer is very similar to the framed in one. This has a large portion of it reinforced with steel, but it has a portion of it that isn't. This gives the 3/4 frame dump enough support that you won't have any issues when you are dumping your load.

Aluminum
An aluminum dump commercial trailer is great because it is lightweight. This trailer is great because aluminum is durable, aluminum is sturdy, and aluminum is going to hold up. With aluminum dump trailer you'll prevent any issues you would have with something that isn't framed in and get the support you need to carry large loads without the weight that steel has.

With all of the choices that you have for commercial dump trailers, you have a lot of choices as to what you can pick. When you are deciding what is going to work the best for you, you need to assess your options and you need to find out what is going to work the best for your situation and what you are carrying. There are all kinds of great choices out there, it just matters what you find is going to fit you the best and work for you.

Nursing Home Beds and Other Equipment

If you stop to think about it, nursing home beds really aren't a popular topic of conversation, as it pertains to features and accessories. Now things like cars, homes cooking and clothes, now thats another story. So information in these and so many other consumer items abounds. The funny thing is though, at some point in all our lives all of us will be using these or some version of these types of beds at leat temporarily.

So just like so many other things in life, preparation & knowledge is key to a smooth transition and also to insuring that you get the best product at the best price for you, a relative or a loved one. The fantastic news now, compared to years past, is that thanks to the Internet information on nursing beds and lifts in all their types and variety's abounds. Notice that I used the word lift!

This is because the picture that most people have in their minds, is a simple bed with side rails & adjustable top and bottom end. It's the way that they have seen them on TV, or perhaps if they've visited someone in a hospital or a relative in a nursing home. What they didn't see was what's called a ahoyer lifta. This quite simply is a mobile lifting apparatus that's used to hoist a patient in and out of bed, to and from a wheel chair or mobile gurney.

Hoyer lifts are amazingly well engineered pieces of machinery. They come in both electric and manual form and take what would be an otherwise very difficult and dangerous anecessarya task and make it incredibly safe and easy. Even so, it does go without saying that the electric hoyer lift is definitly less strenuous to operate then the manually operated models. Just the same, if need be, even an elderly person can operate a manual hoyer lift.

If you're preparing to be a caregiver to a relative or loved one who is going to be confined in any way to a nursing or hospital bed, now is the time to become familiar with the hoyer lift, how it operates and all its features. Think you won't need one because your charge is able to get up and around on their own? Think twice! Thats because something as minimal as a twisted ankle caused by a mis-step off a stair can change all that in an instant.

The deal is that should you find yourself in the need of one and the knowledge of how to operate it, the crisis that has created this sudden need can and most often will dominate the day. Take a moment to call around and find out where your local senior center is and there will be a director there you can talk to who can point you in the right direction for free lessons. Remember that when it comes to home care, preparation is the key to making your job easy and enjoyable.

Total Merchant Services

Getting into online business can be a wonderful next step for any company in today's market. The average consumer is spending more and more time shopping for services on the internet than ever before and it's no wonder a lot of companies are turning to the internet for business transactions. A lot of times traditional merchant account companies don't offer internet accounts as well so it's important to find a quality company for total merchant services like Total Merchant Services of Wisconsin.
One of the first things to consider when looking at internet merchant accounts are their rates and fees. A good quality company will be very upfront and forward with any and all 00004000 fees related to service. High fees aren't necessarily a bad thing as sometimes they can be sign of real quality service. These fees shouldn't be the only decision making point in a business owners research but it should have some bearing on the overall decision.

Having a quality merchant account can also be a hassle to get sometimes. Be prepared to fill out some length forms when applying for a merchant account. Look for companies with good approval rates as they tend to also be the easier companies to work with. Generally speaking, companies with lower approval ratings will be a hassle once a business owner is actually using the account.

Another thing to pay attention to is chargeback fees and rates. At some point in time a customer is bound to petition their credit card company and claim they never got a product or some service. Assuming the business actually provided the product or the service, this usually happens when a customer isn't satisfied when they product or service and wants their money back. It's important that the merchant account company you have has good rates for this. Also, it's important that they have a history of fighting for their merchants and not a disgruntled seller.

Another sign of a good merchant account are the options offered with service. Look for things like a free terminal or no application fee. Also many companies charge annual fees so a company that doesn't is a plus. Total Merchant Services of Wisconsin offers all of this and more.

So how do you tell if the merchant account you're choosing is a good one? Sometimes it's simply just as easy as searching for reviews of the company on the internet. Don't be surprised or alarmed if you find mixed emotions, but a good quality company should have more positive comments than negative ones.

Just do the due diligence when searching for a merchant account. Spending a little extra time searching and researching companies can truly make or break the whole merchant account experience. Be sure to pay attention to the fees and service charges as well as any feedback you can find about the company on the internet. Also pay attention to the approval ratings and chargeback fees as all of this should play a part in the decision making process.

Why to purchase fake Rolex watch

If you want to buy fake Rolex watch for your personal use, then it is necessary to collect some information in the internet about the replica watch or about fake Rolex watch. You can get more information about these watches if you enter the keyword in the search engine websites. However, not all users are receiving clear/ accurate information about these watches. From this source, you can get complete information about fake Rolex watch and after reading it, you can decide whether to buy it or not. The foremost thing that you should know about the fake Rolex watch is regarding the material used in it. In the current market, replica watches are available with several materials and each material differs in quality as well as in price.

If you or any of your friends are having a plan in buying fake Rolex watch, then the best option to buy is through online. Various designs are available in the websites than in stores. Moreover, users are getting an option to contact the seller and clarify for doubts before buying. Asking about the product is recommended because you can check with the seller's reply and based on the seller's reply, you can know about the product quality. Already fake watches with low quality are been sold through online and most of these watches are not durable for more than 3 months. In this case, people's money is getting waste with no proper attention given before buying the product.

Apart from these, check with the price. If you feel the price is more expensive, then do not hesitate to contact the seller and ask for the reason on why it is being so expensive. Some seller may give a reply that the material used is silver or gold or platinum. If you find such reply from the seller, then again ask the seller about the amount of gold or silver or platinum used in the material. For your security purpose, it is advisable to buy fake Rolex watch with credit card. Some scammers will just give an attractive advertisement and after receiving payments, they will wind up from that particular website. It will be very useful to track that particular transaction if it is bought from your credit card. By informing it to the banker, the seller's contact details can be tracked easily.

If you are buying any product online, contacting seller is more important before doing any purchase. Reputed websites will have their own payment mode where seller will receive money only if buyer confirms the product received. This would be beneficial to the either side because there will be safety with money. Do not pay the seller for any product that is not legal to the website's policy. Also check with money back guarantee or replacement guarantee if the product sent is received in damaged condition. All these are important to check with the seller before you buy fake Rolex watch or any other products.

Creating Great Kids Birthday Cakes

Once again, it is Nina's birthday, and conditions for Mama Baker to rub some dough and place it in the oven. Tens of recipes lie in the book beside her and even, more in her head as she prepares the historic cake for her little sweet heart. However, which of these, she asks, would be appropriate for Nina, which one of these recipes is beneficial for a four year old girl?

Indeed, everyone adores cakes, from the young child to the elderly grandfather. Some like them with much sugar and specific additives like food colour while others prefer them otherwise. 00004000 However, what could be the essence of a treat if it ends up poisoning one's health and particularly that of a child?

It seems almost impossible for one to avoid excess sugar and other unhealthy additives in cakes bought from the shelves of shops as the most love such contents. Contrarily, cake made at home is easy to control.

It is common knowledge that children love sweets; sugary foods and anything that makes Nina smack her lips and keep her smiling whenever he sees mum or dad, but one must not give in to every 'sugary' request just to make her happy. Aside from tooth decay that is usually caused by sugar, excess fat in some baking margarine could cause obesity in children.

Using fruits, nuts and vegetables in making that historic cake will certainly keep Nina smiling on her birthday. It is advisable to use exclusively organic ingredients for baking and cooking in general; sugar, flour, eggs, milk, and even dried fruits must genuinely be without chemicals. Fruit puree will be an excellent substitute for sugar in that cake and a reduced- fat, olive oil based- spread could replace that butter! (Reference: healthy-eating-made-easy)

Baking powder forms the basis of cake preparation, but not every baking powder is suitable for baking. Some are said to contain aluminum, which is possibly linked to Alzheimer's disease. Therefore, it is advisable that one selects aluminum- free baking powder for a healthy cake. The Rumford type will be an excellent choice.

Chocolate is a favourite ingredient for many baking mums but for proper condition this could either be reduced or replaced with natural cocoa powder. One can add a small quantity of this cocoa powder to chocolate and use instead of hundred percent chocolate.

Now, who will not like a beautiful dream lasting for hours or even days if possible? Although, it is almost impossible to conserve a birthday cake or any cake in general for more than a day or two, for the sake of a lasting taste in the mouth; it will undoubtedly be exciting to keep that unique cake for a few more days. Cakes should be placed in a cool, dry place, where they come into contact with much air. One can ice cakes in the refrigerator in order to protect them.

Finally, if you are stuck for ideas, you could try some of these long time childrens classics; Banana nut bread, Apple cake, and Blue Muffins.

Construction Accidents: Michigan's Most Dangerous Work: Injured Workers Often Denied Claim For Recovery Of Damages

By Terry Cochran

Construction accidents continue to be one of the most frequent types of accidents for Michigan workers and for workers across the nation because safety rules have not protected them. Construction workers in the building trades are frequent victims of on-the-job injuries and serious accidents. Why? Far too often, required safety rules are not in place. As a result thousands of construction workers are killed or injured each year.

In Michigan alone the construction industry led all others with the highest number (30) of fatal work accidents in 2008, according to the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA). MIOSHA reports that the leading hazards faced by construction workers are associated with:

Cave-ins

Underground utilities

Heavy Machinery

Manual handling materials

Working close to moving traffic

Electrical hazards, such as overhead power lines

MIOSHA reports that in 1994 alone some 19 Michigan workers were killed in trench collapse accidents.

In my practice the common construction accidents causing on-the-job injuries, fatalities, or leading to workers comp involve falls from ladders and scaffolding, front end loaders, electrocutions, vehicle back overs, gas line explosions, failed machinery, cave-ins, and road construction workers hit by passing vehicles. Workers injured include carpenters, roofers, dry wallers, pipe layers, operating engineers, rod busters, cement finishers, cement pavers, and laborers.

A construction worker injured on the job, in most instances, can sue the employer for work-related injuries. A third party can be shown to be liable for negligence when an injury occurs on the job site. While some workers are prevented or limited by law from collecting workman's compensation for their injuries, many workers are able to recover damages from parties other than their employers or co-workers, especially when subcontractors are involved. Sometimes owners, architects, contractors and equipment manufacturers can be held liable for damages for construction accidents. Usually, though, the liable person is the general contractor, contractor or owner.

Manufacturers of construction equipment are responsible for designing and maintaining safe products. Defective or dangerous products may be at fault in a construction accident. With all of the equipment used on a construction site, the chance for injury is great, but if the proper safety measures are not employed in the making of this equipment, the chances of an injury or a death occurring increase greatly.

The manufacturers on this equipment can be found liable when an accident occurs due to one of their products. Equipment used on a construction site includes scaffolding, cranes, power tools, derricks, hoists, conveyors, woodworking tools, ladders, winches, trucks, graters, scrapers, tractors, bulldozers, forklifts, back hoes, heavy equipment, boilers, pressure vessels, and gas detectors.

Even if a worker is injured because of his or her own carelessness, compensation still may be available from the Workers Compensation Act. Benefits such as workers comp weekly payments and medical payments are awarded to an injured worker, although often these awards are not enough to cover the pain and suffering that comes with an on-the-job injury.

Workman's Comp weekly payments are based on a percentage of worker's weekly earnings and on the severity of the disability, whether it is a temporary total disability or a permanent partial disability. The medical expenses cover only those treatments deemed necessary and related to the specific work injury.

Because construction accident cases most often are very complex it is important to consult with an attorney with experience in investigating construction accidents and in evaluating the best avenue of recovery based on the law. If applying for worker's comp, consult a workers comp lawyer.

Insurance claims are often denied just so insurance companies can meet their profit goals. Workman comp claims are also often denied, especially the first time around. I strongly advise Michigan construction workers involved in an accident to use a Michigan attorney skilled in construction accident recoveries because the law varies from state to state. An attorney will lead you through the steps needed to recover actual damages and may even assist in punitive damages being awarded.

Electric Pallet Stacker - Best Alternative for a Forklift

An electric pallet stacker is used as an alternative for forklift to pick up load, deliver and to stack the heavy goods into neat columns. They are operated with the help of an electrically driven motor. These stackers are an essential part of an industry that deals in handling heavy materials. The design of this equipment is such that with the help of it, lifting, carrying and stacking goods have become easier than ever imagined.

Whether you are just setting up a business which deals with handling heavy materials or your name is already a renowned in this business, the electric pallet stacker is one such equipment which you cannot do without. For a normal human being, managing an empty pallet is not possible because they are extremely heavy and are very huge in size. At this time, the electric pallet stacker is a blessing in disguise as they can easily lift, carry and stack these heavy pallets wherever it is required. This is one such equipment which has reduced the manual work pressure of the workers in the industry.

The load capacity of these equipments is 1500 kilograms in one go. If you require equipment which has more load capacity than pallet stacker, then you may have to purchase heavy duty stackers. Electric- hydraulic system is employed by both the manual and electric stackers for lifting up and lowering down the load. The main difference between these two stackers is that in manual stackers manual power is required whereas in the electric stackers there is no need of manual power.
The electric pallet stacker uses battery to get the work done. The very task which may seem quite hard with the manual stackers can be done easily with the electric equipment in a simple and fast method. Whether you are operating these equipments in the industry or any construction site precautions should be taken at all cost. If you are operating mobile cranes then extra precaution should be taken because accidents involving these equipments are unfortunately very high.

The mobile cranes are one of the most essential construction equipment today. As the name suggest, these equipments can travel from one site to the other and even across rough terrains without any difficulty. The mobile crane is mostly used when there is an issue of space. Anyone who is operating these mobile cranes should be fully trained in handling the equipment. They should also wear appropriate clothing like hard hats, high visibility clothing and safety boots. Before any work is done with the help of these equipments it is vital to check whether any electrical power lines are crossing over the construction site to avoid accidents.

When working with mobile cranes, the most common danger anyone faces is the potential of the load falling from the crane. To avoid these fatal accidents it is essential to check the weight of the load before it is lifted. It should in no exceed the load capacity of the crane. Along with the load you should also inspect all the chains, hooks and slings of the mobile cranes which will be used to secure and lift the load properly.

How We Got Today's Overhead Crane

The mechanical crane is an essential invention of civilized man. The crane was developed thousands of years ago by the Ancient Greeks. The oldest archeological records of stones cut for crane lifting appear around 500 BC. Within two hundred years, Aristotle's works showed evidence of a compound pulley system in use. Ever since that time, following generations and civilizations have embraced the power of the crane and improved it in their own way. The Romans added as many as five pulleys to their cranes and exceeded the lifting power of the Ancient Egyptians by over 50 times.

The crane revolutionized vertical lifting by eliminating the friction and manpower necessary for using a ramp. Smaller teams could build larger buildings than ever with smaller blocks. Cranes by today's standards are enormous and complex steel and iron machines. But they still operate on the same basic principles as the wooden cranes of the ancient world. Ultimately, a crane utilizes a couple of simple machines used in tandem to create a mechanical advantage. Those simple machines are the lever and the pulley. The lever, like an off center seesaw, allows a heavy load on the short end of a beam to lifted by smaller force at the other end of the beam. The pulley, by using anchored ropes wrapped around the load, runs those ropes to a winding machine or hand crank. Cranking the pulley applies force to the load that is multiplied by the length of the ropes between the anchors.

Cranes then, as now, are designed according to two major criteria. First the crane must be able to lift a load of the target weight. But once a crane lifts that load its own stability becomes challenged. The next step in crane design is to make sure the lifting device will remain stable when its load is lifted and moved. Many cranes have toppled during a lift and sent their designers right back to the drawing borad.

By the High Middle Ages, western civilization had added the treadwheel, the tower crane, and the harbor crane to this venerable family of mechanical lifting devices. All over Europe, from harbors to mines to Gothic cathedral construction sites, the crane, now powered by treadwheels, flywheels, and windlasses with radiating spokes, spread accross the western world. By the 17th century cranes were even used in residential applications to swing cooking pots over and away from a cooking fire. Also to adjust the height of the cooking pot depending on the size of the fire.

Of course, in our industrial age, cranes have been modified to fulfill modern needs. Ropes are seldom used for cranes anymore, having been replaced by steel cable or chains. It is also common place to take advantage of the hydraulic cylinder in modern cranes, allowing for larger and more powerful machines than any in antiquity. Possibly the most notable evolution in crane technology in modern times is the ability to perform more than simple vertical lift. While cranes in antiquity were used to lift loads directly up, they never managed much horizontal motion. Today, cranes can move a load horizontally with nearly as much ease and finesses as they can lift loads vertically.

A common example of this evolution is the overhead bridge crane. Like in antiquity, these machines use a cable and pulley to hoist heavy loads off the ground. Of course, everything is made of metal now. Additionally, the beauty is that the entire hoist is mounted to a crossbeam track much like a train rail. This runway allows for horizontal motion while the 00004000 load is off the ground. They are typically mounted to the building supports of the facility they are designed for. Overhead bridge cranes can handle loads from 200 pounds to 100 tons. An indoor overhead bridge crane can be designed to move a load horizontally as far as 150 feet. Larger outdoor cranes are capable of even farther horizontal motion.

The future of cranes is just as bright as their past is long. It has recently been announced that a new house-building robot is about to revolutionize the home construction industry. Of course, the essential technology is a computerized overhead crane. Designed by the University of Southern California, this new automated overhead crane will shuttle back and forth on its runway laying a quick setting, concrete-like material down one thin layer at a time. The machine can work all day with no breaks and is purported to be able to build the walls of an entire home, no matter the shape, in one day. From Ancient Greek temples, to house building robots, the crane is a trusty, durable invention that has brought mankind a long way.
